Traumatic events such as natural disasters, war, terrorism, global conflict, violent victimization, community violence, and sudden unnatural loss have affected individuals in all communities. The Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS) is an international organization dedicated to excellence in services and support to individuals impacted by these and other events. ATSS members represent a variety of professions and individuals actively involved in trauma treatment, disaster response and management, first response, crisis intervention, trauma services, the longer term treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other reactions to traumatic experiences. ATSS is a non-profit organization that grants you access to a number of benefits.
Professional certification is one of our valuable benefits. ATSS is the only organization that offers three internationally recognized certifications to ATSS members engaged in trauma services, treatment and/or response. ATSS certifications provide recognition to our members for having met a rigorous standard of educational and experiential requirements in the field of trauma services and support.
The mission of the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS) is to organize, educate and professionally certify its worldwide membership in order to assist those affected by trauma.
